The Stair That
Never Arrives
Eight hundred steps, and the eight-hundred-and-first is the first again. Pilgrims report climbing for three days and meeting their own footprints coming down. The architect left no drawings — only a note: “the destination was never the point.”

The Ziggurat,
Inverted
Built from the sky downward, its foundation stone was laid last and never touched the ground. The widest terrace faces the clouds; the temple at the tip points at the earth like a plumb line. Rain falls upward here, out of politeness.

A Colonnade
Folding Through Itself
Forty columns process along a path that quietly rolls over as it goes, so the last column stands on the ceiling of the first. Walk it end to end and you arrive upside down, convinced the world — not you — has turned.

- Columns
- 40, each one certain it is upright
- Status

The Gate
of Return
The atlas ends at a doorway with no wall. Surveyors who pass through it do not come out the other side — they come out the beginning. Every ending in this atlas is the same ending: an invitation to look again.
